Daniel Benton began his writing career on the television series Police Woman, starring Angie Dickinson. He went on to write for series such as Paper Chase, Dynasty, Jake and The Fatman, Rugrats and Adventures In Wonderland, for which he received an Emmy nomination.
In film, Benton has written numerous independent features including Hostage Syndrome, Nudity Required, Knockouts, L.A. Goddess, Lethal Games, To The Ends of Time, and more recently the horror thrillers Near Death, Jack Hammer, The Revolting Dead, and the military action thriller Special Ops: Delta Force.
Benton began producing in television feature development on projects such as Dragonlady for Lorimar and Cold Warriors, for Gruenbergfilm in Berlin. Benton's film producing credits began with Associate Producer on L.A. Goddess, then Executive Producer, Writer, and Producer on Near Death. The Revolting Dead followed, which he Executive Produced and Co-Wrote with director Michael Su. The Revolting Dead is currently being distributed by Maverick Entertainment in the U.S. and Canada, and by Hollywood Wizard for the international markets. Projects in the works include a Theatre of Terror, horror film/television series based on Edgar Allen Poe stories, a new and horrific rendition of Mary Shelley's classic, christened St. Frankenstein, and a "Dawn-of-the-Dead"-meets-"American Idol" horror feature, American Zombie.
Benton also continues to develop noir and action thrillers, including Those Who Prey, a contemporary sizzler in the tradition of Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity, plus future military action films to follow on the boot heels of Special Ops: Delta Force, which recently completed principal photography.
On Rugrats, he wrote the episode The Stork with Deborah Raznick.
